Cyber in the Army Cadets

In the Army Cadets, cyber training plays a vital role in preparing young people for the digital challenges of the modern world. Through the CyberFirst programme—developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)—cadets have the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications in cyber security.

These courses not only enhance digital awareness but also open pathways to careers in cyber and defence industries.

When does the training happen?

CyberFirst Adventurers is usually run by your unit on a local or regional basis. Check the Cadet Portal app for courses near you.

CyberFirst Defenders is a five-day course run at the Defence School of Communication Information Systems at Blandford Camp in Dorset. This course runs twice per year (October and February) for up to 24 cadets and is open to those 14+ years old who are mature enough to attend a national course. Attending the Adeventurers course is recommended but not a requirement. We are currently accepting applications for the October 2025 course until 30 August. Please speak to your instructors to apply via Westminster.

CyberFirst Advanced is a five-day course run at the Defence School of Communication Information Systems at Blandford Camp in Dorset. This course runs once per year (Easter) for up to 16 cadets and is open to those who have excelled at Defenders or those who apply for a waiver based on prior experience.
